BCM ready to take up the ‘Gateway’ challenge
A team of BCM staff members have been ‘putting in the hard yards’ – readying themselves for competing in the biggest race on the Brisbane Fun Run calendar, the annual Bridge to Brisbane, taking place on Sunday 6 August. Over 21,000 Brisbanites took up the Bridge to Brisbane challenge in 2005 and this year’s organizers expect even greater numbers. The race sees participants follow a 12km course - crossing Brisbane’s Gateway Bridge with its 5% gradient, down along Breakfast Creek Road (alongside the Brisbane River), past Teneriffe’s historical woolstores, finally finishing up at New Farm Park. BCMers have been doing regular training runs around the streets of the agency’s Fortitude Valley premises and into neighbouring New Farm in preparation for Sunday’s race. BCM Partner, Kevin Moreland, who is enduring the 6.30am start along with his staff, said “this is the second year we’ve put a team together for the Bridge to Brisbane, and follows on from Bootcamp and personal training sessions for the staff. It’s great to see them working on their fitness levels and it shows in their positive attitude and outlook”. And it’s not just the runners who are getting a ‘workout’ at BCM - the local Fitness First at Fortitude Valley has become ‘the’ place for BCMers to catch up with their colleagues at lunchtime or after work - with nearly half the agency now joined up as members. Mr Moreland said, “fit and motivated staff are undoubtedly beneficial for the individuals, the agency, and our clients”. |
